On Sunday 25th November 2012, the Scottish Shetland Sheepdog Club held an agility day at Fair City DTC Barn, Dalcrue, on the outskirts of Perth.
I decided to take Sookie along for the day. Sookie is the most naturally agile of the two girls, always on the go, running and jumping. Sookie doesn’t like attending dog shows so the poor wee soul often gets left at home with Joyce, while Sassy and I go to shows. So I was really looking forward to spending the day with Sookie on a special day out.
We have never done agility before, indeed Sookie has had very little formal training at all. Driving up I was thinking, Would Sookie enjoy our day? Would she behave? Would she be any good?
Sookie (and I) absolutely loved it. We got to try out hurdles, tunnels, A-Frame and the Dog Walk. Sookie showed real potential and especially loved the hurdles. She loves to jump. We need to work on her ‘wait’ and general obedience then I hope to take Sookie to some beginner classes in the new year.
We had a wonderful day, met up with lots of old friends and met some new. The catering was the usual high standard we always get from the Scottish Shetland Sheepdog Club. The soup, stovies and sausage rolls went down well on a cold Sunday in November, brrrr, the barn was freezing but we all soon warmed up when we got started.
